Maurice Lamonte Mears Jr.

On Thursday, August 23, 2018, Maurice L. “Butch” Mears, Jr. left the bonds of earth and reached out and took the hand of God. He was a loving husband and father and friend. He was a born again Christian that loved the Lord and his church.

He served his country in the United States Air Force and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired as a civil services program manager. He enjoyed campground hosting in many places in the United States and was a volunteer firefighter/EMT, serving his community for many years. He was a Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, Eastern Star, and a Shriner. He touched many lives and will be missed by all.

Mr. Mears leaves behind a loving wife of 52 years, Betty Linda Tuten Mears of Ridgeland, SC; two children, Maurice Lamonte Mears, III (Connie) and Lisa Anne Foskey (Terry), both of Perry, GA; four grandchildren, Cody Price, Lindsay Mears Golden (Chad), Colby Price, and Casey Price, all of Warner Robbins, GA, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, M.L. Mears, Sr., his mother, Ruth Langford Mears, and brother, Robert E. Mears.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, August 27, 2018 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland with Pastor Tripp Daley presiding.  Burial will follow at Noon at Beaufort National Cemetery.  The family will welcome friends beginning at 9:00 am at the funeral home.
