Mauriece 'Reese' H. Barton Jr.

Mauriece Hadley 'Reese' Barton Jr., age 72 of Orangeburg, SC passed away on August 21, 2019 at the Orangeburg Regional Hospital after a short illness.

Reese was born in Beaufort, SC on December 21, 1946 to the late Mauriece Barton Sr. and Effie Connelly Barton.

Reese retired from the Carolina Lumber Company where he was a Supervisor from 1982 through 2007.  He was a faithful member at the Coosawhatchie Baptist Church.  Reese enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all, he loved his family.

Reese is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Wanda Smith Barton; his son, Richard A. Barton, Sr. (Holly) and his daughter Jennifer B. Ballew (Carroll) all of Orangeburg; his brothers, N. Kenneth Barton (Elaine) of Bluffton, David A. Barton (Brenda) of Ridgeland and Ray Stanley Barton (Sharon) of Islandton; his sister, Sally Ann Brabham (Bruce) of Tillman; six grandchildren, Amanda Barton, Allen Barton, Jr. (Dynasty),Randall Taylor Barton, Kaytlin Barton, Alex Ballew and J.D. Ballew (Brittany); six great grandchildren, Shayla Creel, Brice Creel, Richard Allen Barton III, Thomas Mauriece Barton, Rubyanna Barton and Harper Ballew. Reese was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Armstead.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the Coosawhatchie Baptist Church with funeral services at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Gillisonville Baptist Church Cemetery.
