Mavis McTeer Fillyaw, 85, departed this life on Friday, December 14, 2007. She was born on October 2, 1922 in Hampton County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Lester and Myra Mixon McTeer.Mavis graduated from Yemassee High School, Yemassee, SC in 1940. She then attended and graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Tifton, GA and later attended Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC.Mavis was married to the late Lawrence Fillyaw.For many years Mavis was employed by Southern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1981.
