Melinda Sue "Mindy" Wolcott, 26, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville, SC after a brief illness.She was born in Beaufort, SC on December 15, 1984 to Gary L. Wolcott and Ruth Smith Moore.She was a Professional Interpreter and an advocate for the Hispanic community. She attended Faith Baptist Church.She is survived by her father, Gary L. (Stephanie) Wolcott of Beaufort, SC; her mother, Ruth Smith (Sam) Moore of Ridgeland, SC; her fiance, Juan Luis Ortega of Ridgeland, SC; three brothers, Thomas Joseph (Melissa) Lubold of Ridgeland, SC; Gary L. (Autumn) Wolcott, Jr. of Columbia, SC; Frederic G. Smith, also of Columbia, SC; Five sisters, Michelle A. Smith of Columbia, SC; Lori (Ben) Rooker of St. Helena, SC; Jessica L. Wolcott of Columbia, SC; Tina Wolcott, also of Columbia, SC; Christina Cleland; paternal grandmother, Florence Wolcott of Burlington, VT; thirteen nieces and nephews; five aunts, Christine S. Clements, Patricia Jenkins, Beverly Barlow, Bette Couture, Nancy Thompson and two uncles, Charles Wolcott and Roger Wolcott. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rosemary E. Wolcott.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Faith Baptist Church in Ridgeland, SC with burial in Grimes Cemetery. Rev. Bob Crosby will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service at the church. Pallbearers: Jerome Paulsen, Michael Clements, Jimmy Anderson, Scott Nelson, Brian Preiss and Bill Clements.
