Melvin Hirschfeld

Melvin “Mel” Hirschfeld passed away on January 29, 2021. He is survived by Helen his dearly and beloved wife and best friend for 64 years. 2 sons, Jeffrey (Linda) Hirschfeld, Steven Hirschfeld and 2 grandsons, Brian and Joshua Hirschfeld, 2 brothers, Jack(Lois) and Leon (Loraine) Hirschfeld, nieces and nephews. Mel deeply loved and cherished his family and friends.  He was a veteran of the Korean War and was awarded The Korean Service w/bronze Star, The National Defense Service, United Nations Service and the Ambassador for Peace medals. He was a member of Meridian Masonic Lodge #691 of Bay Shore, NY. A private burial and military honors will be held at the Beaufort, South Carolina National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (PO Box 50, Memphis, TN  38101-9929).
