Merle Frederick Crowl, 88, of Bluffton, SC died Monday, July 2, 2012 at Hilton Head Hospital.He was born on July 14, 1923 the son of the late George and Ethel Mong Crowl in Alliance, Ohio.He served in the United States Army during WWII as a Master Sergeant where he received a Bronze Star. He worked as a Telecommunications Manager at Republic Steel Corporation of Cleveland, OH. He was a member of St. Jacobs Lutheran Church in Jackson Township, OH and at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bluffton, SC. He was a Mason. He was an avid golfer and loved the Indians and Browns.He was married to the late Anna M. Crowl for 55 years until her death in July of 2001. He is survived by his son, Larry (Kathy) Crowl of North Royalton, Ohio; daughter Lynn Kelling of Bluffton, SC; brother Lewis (Julie) Crowl, of Palm Desert, CA; two grandchildren, Daniel (Katie) Kelling of Manassas, VA and Julie (Craig) Schommer of Charlotte, NC; 1 great-grandchild, Parker Kelling, and numerous Nieces and Nephews.A memorial service will be held at 10am, Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 351 Buckwalter Parkway, Bluffton, SC 29910.Any memorial donations may be made to Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 351 Buckwalter Parkway, Bluffton, SC 29910.
