Michael “Mike” Anthony Goies joined his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with an aggressive and debilitating cancer. His strength and unwavering faith throughout his journey were a testament to the man he was—one of resilience, devotion, and love.
Born on February 23, 1975, in San Rafael, California, Mike had a deep passion for life and the people he cherished most. He was an avid sports fan, especially devoted to the Los Angeles Angels and the Seattle Seahawks, and could always be found watching ESPN or diving into discussions about the latest games. He couldn’t resist watching Star Wars should it happen to come on, and never missed a sermon by Charles Stanley, but nothing compared to his greatest joys—cooking and spending precious time with his wife, Annie Goies, and their daughter, Mia Goies.
Mike was a dedicated and hardworking man, known for his loyalty, generosity, and quiet wisdom. He had a sharp wit, a dry sense of humor, and a heart that gave selflessly to those around him. He didn’t say much, but when he did, you knew it was worth listening to. Mike loved his job and co-workers at Brightview Landscaping in Bluffton, South Carolina and continued working even through his illness, up until the day he was hospitalized. His unwavering faith in God carried him through his battle, and he never wavered in his belief that he was held in the Lord’s hands.
He is survived by his loving wife, Annie Goies, and his adored daughter, Mia Goies (11); his mother and stepfather; Sandra and Chet Hollis; his sister Lisa Harbin, his father-in-law, Kelly Bates; his brother-in-law, Brett Bates, and his wife, Cathy; as well as his two nephews, Noah and Matthew Sevedge, and two nieces, Amy and Kaylee Bates. Mike is also lovingly remembered by many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Dennis Anthony Goies, and his mother-in-law Karen Bates.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to support Mia Goies’ ongoing education expenses, honoring Mike’s dedication to his family and their future at:
