Diver, sailor, traveler, cherished husband of Luanne, proud grandfather of Wyatt and Jackson, treasured brother of Stephen, Betty, Hazel, Zachary, Amy, nephews, niece and grand nephew, passed away at home in Bluffton this Veterans Day, November 11, 2013.
Born February 22, 1949 in Newport News, Virginia, a military brat, he grew up stateside and abroad, graduating from Narimasu High School, Japan.
He served the U.S. Army as a Pathfinder, turning 21 in Vietnam. Graduated UC Davis in 1975, majoring in Native American studies. The first 18 years of his lifelong career in property management took him to Puerto Rico and the Cayman Islands.
In 2003 he joined RMC Resort Management in Hilton Head, South Carolina as Director of Operations and was a dedicated member of their management team for 10 years. Michael's fierce devotion to doing what was right and making the welfare of others his top priority earned him admiration, respect and enduring friendships with his coworkers and clients. The company credits him as a key contributor to most of their success over the last decade.
He will be fondly remembered as a humorist, a champion of social consciousness, a proud patriot and Vietnam veteran, and an especially warm, loving and caring friend.
