Michael Thomas Lops

Michael Thomas Lops, 65, died on Thursday, February 14, 2013 in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Michael was born in Norfolk, Virginia, the only son of Anthony and Carmina (Hicks) Lops. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Diane Nora (Schuh) Lops, and his son Christian Michael Lops and daughter-in-law Melissa (Ward) Lops of Atlanta.He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1969, served for six years as a Surface Warfare Specialist, and retired from the Naval Reserve having attained the rank of Captain. Near the end of his active duty service, he earned an M.B.A. in Industrial Management from Old Dominion University. Michael graduated from Stetson University College of Law in 1983, and worked for 22 years for Eckerd Corporation in Largo, Florida, for the final eight years serving as Vice President of Legal Compliance and Regulatory Counsel. He continued his career after the sale of Eckerd, serving as General Counsel of both Mobility Products Unlimited and Life Care Centers of America. Michael most recently served as the Chief Compliance Officer of CareCore in Bluffton, South Carolina.A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Sauls Funeral Home at 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910.
