Sun City Resident Dies at 67.

Michael J. Mershon May 31, 1953 – April 28, 2021

Michael John Mershon, raised in Cranford NJ and residing in Sun City, passed away on April 28, 2021 with family members present at his side, in Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Bluffton, South Carolina. Michael died of numerous complications due to respiratory failure.   He was 67 years of age.

Michael was a proud 1971 graduate of Cranford High School, where he excelled at sports, including football, baseball and basketball.  He often related stories of athletic games, coaches, friends and his youthful exploits with all who knew him.  He was an avid sports enthusiast throughout his entire life, and was particularly proud of his daughters’ swimming,  tennis and field hockey achievements.  Michael was also a steadfast supporter of the Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, and Boston Red Sox.

After graduating high school, Michael attended the University of Arizona, and developed a deep affection for the state of Arizona.  With additional certification from the Parsons School of Design, and the New School, he pursued a successful career in the Sports and Specialty Lighting industry, and was the principal owner of the Green Practice firm, which he started in 2007.

Sun City residents often saw Michael water walking in the Lakehouse pool or riding the stationary bikes in the gym.  He loved the ocean and walking the beach.

Michael is pre-deceased by his parents, Francis (Pete) and Carol Mershon, and is survived by his daughters Morgan Mershon, Courtney Wajbel, Whitney Mershon and Haley Melanson, 10 beautiful grandchildren, his sister and brother-in-law, William and Linda (Mershon) Murphy, and his nephew Andrew Kimm and his wife Katharine Welling of Chatham, NJ.  Michael had numerous cousins located throughout the country.
