Michaela Christine James passed away on June 19th, 2021 from complications of metastatic breast cancer.
She was born on October 25th, 1975 in Rome, New York the daughter of Kenneth and Margarete James. She attended schools in Bimbach and Weierhof, Germany and remained fluent in German throughout her life. She graduated from Manzana High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico before moving to Hilton Head Island in 1995. She attended college at Armstrong University in Savannah, Georgia. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and enjoyed working in several of the assisted living homes in Hilton Head over the past 20 years, ensuring the elderly were well taken care of. Apart from that, she would work with children as often as she could. Animals were also very important to her and she would enjoy her time working at the Hilton Head animal shelter.
Michaela loved meeting and making friends with new people, taking care of others, church every Sunday, dancing, seafood (especially oysters), all music, a variety of teas, and her favorite color was always purple. She was a "vegetarian” or at least a pescetarian who had no problem poking fun at others who ate red meat. She was a number person, easily remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and other significant dates. She would always make connections of different numbers, connecting birthdays to other dates, and stating which numbers may be lucky and why. She was always ready to answer the phone and talk for hours, or come right over if needed. Helping others was extremely important to her. She did not tolerate those who mistreated others or animals and would either fix the problem herself or try until she could find someone that could. She was a fun-loving person who would make the best out of any situation.
One example is she hated when people mispronounced her name, but with time learned to find it funny and would laugh that, "children could pronounce it better than adults".
She leaves behind her beloved son Andreas James, parents Kenneth and Margarete James, younger brothers Dr. Kevin James and Sebastian James, sister in law Bethany James, and her two nephews Coleman and Magnus James whom she raised as her own.
She leaves behind her Aunt Florence and Uncle George Brown along with numerous cousins and friends. She also leaves behind her Uncle Lorenz and Aunt Longina Uebelacker, Uncle Dr. Klaus and Aunt Ulrke Uebelacker, with another host of cousins throughout Germany.
She also leaves behind her dearest friends, Christina Withers, Sheila Dibartolomeo, LeeAnn Neduasa , and her special childhood friend, Penny Schlies. However, everyone she met held a special place in her heart.
