Michele C. Wagner passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, in her home in Bluffton, SC with her son, Patrick, holding her hand. She was 83 years old.
Michele was born October 2, 1941, in Dayton, Ohio. She was the seventh of eight children of her loving parents, the late Raymond and Mae Burgert. They were a devout Christian family and attended the Friends Church.
While she grew up, Michele and her younger brother, Joe, were spoiled by their older siblings who would bring them toys and clothes and take them places to have fun. She often talked about going to the Serpent Mounds for outings and family reunions. While at home nearly every weekend was filled with visiting family and friends. Her family also made several road trips to Florida to visit her older brother, Dick.
Michele graduated from Mad River High School in Dayton, Ohio in 1959. While attending High School she was a member of the Drill Team, performing at school sporting events.
While living in Colorado Springs, Colorado as an Army widow and single mother of four grown children she met her present husband Robert Wagner in October of 1988. Bob was working near Peterson AFB, Colorado and they were married February 14, 1991. Upon their retirement in June of 1999 they moved to Bradenton, Florida to be near Michele’s sister, Judy, who was ill with cancer and to get out of the cold. After Judy passed in 2001, they moved to Bluffton, South Carolina to be near her nieces, Susan Borm and Linda Boeke, where they have been till today.
Michele will be remembered by all as a loving and giving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother.
Michele is survived by her husband, Robert Wagner, two sons, Michael and Patrick Marre, two daughters, Suzanne Van Dinter and Angela Marre, as well as six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Michele was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Mae Burgert, brothers, Dick, Billy, David and Joe Burgert, sisters Maxine Burgert, Judy (Burgert) Coy, Rosetta (Burgert) Borm, and grandson, Logan Marre.
Interment and services will be held at Beaufort National Cemetery on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 12:00 pm.
