Mike H. Reed

Mike H. Reed, 78, of Varnville, SC passed away on March 16, 2016, at the Estill Nursing Home in Estill SC. Mike was born in Springfield, SC to the late Clayton and Annie Reed. Mike was a carpenter and worked for Southern Family Homes where he served as Superintendent for 25 years. Mike was a member of Pine Level Baptist Church and a former member of the South Carolina National Guard. He enjoyed planting his garden and eating from his garden. Mike loved his grandchildren. Mike is survived by his wife, Ina Smith; two sons, David Reed (Joni) of Grays, SC, Bobby Reed (Nickie) of Cummins, SC and a step-son, Fred Smith (Kim) of Rincon, Ga; his daughter, Annie Jones (Rufus), and two step daughters, Kathy Smith, and Leah Fontenot (Mark), all of Grays; two brothers Gene Reed (Belinda) of Palatka, FL and Buddy Reed (Cindy) of Springfield, SC; two sisters, Mary Alice Reed of Springfield, SC and Carol Livingston of Orangeburg, SC; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mike is predeceased by a brother, Ronnie Reed and his first wife, Ida Reed. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland. Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Early Branch, SC.
