Milada Sliva

May 3, 1923 — June 9, 2013

Milada Sliva- of Bluffton, SC. Beloved wife of Frank Sliva for 63 years. Cherished Mother of Barbara Brakman, Monica Sliva and John Sliva. Loving Grandmother of Carolyn Miles (Natalie), Kathleen Moffatt (Bryan), Victoria, Frank, Hannah and William Sliva and great grandmother of Reed, Molly, Callum, Connor and Claire . Also survived by her loving sister Alice Bryan of Alberta, Canada and many devoted friends. Born in Czechoslovakia 5/3/1923, she emigrated to Canada in 1927 and married Frank in Montreal in 1950. In 1961, the family moved to NY and lived there until 2005, when they moved to Bluffton. Milada was full of spirit and life and had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved a good joke and a good party. She worked hard all of her life, being in her time a swimsuit model, accountant, translator at the Canadian embassy in Prague, physical education teacher and banker. Her life was tough in the beginning, living through the depression and the second world war, but wonderful at the end. When asked if she could ever have imagined living in a place as beautiful as the Lowcountry, she replied not in her wildest dreams. She instilled a love for life and nature in all her family and passed on her strong work ethic. She loved her family and her friends and will be greatly missed by all.A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30am, Friday, June 14th, at St. Andrew Chapel in Bluffton.
