Minnie Levine, age 93, of New York, Bluffton and Hilton Head Island died peacefully on June 27th surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in NYC on August 29, 1920 to Rose and Joseph Tillow and was raised in the Bronx, NY. She was the loving wife for 48 years of the late Joseph (Yates) Levine. She lived in New Rochelle with her family from 1961 until 2006 when she moved to Hilton Head in to remain close to her children.
She was a teacher for 38 years at PS 41 in the Bronx, NY, where she was beloved and respected by her colleagues and students alike. Minnie was an active member of Hadassah, both in New York and in Hilton Head and was chapter president of the Mount Vernon Hadassah and served as their newsletter editor. She was a member of Oseh Shalom and Congregation Beth Yam, as well as their sisterhoods.
Minnie was also an avid reader and lover of cultural activities. She enjoyed attending many musical and theater offerings on the Island.
Minnie is survived by her daughters, Mona Huff (Joseph), Laura Marks (late husband Michael), both of Bluffton, two grandsons, David Marks (Sarah) and Ryan Huff (Margaux), as well as many adoring nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 30th, 11 am at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910 with interment at Beaufort National Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
