Mitchell Saxon Lowther

October 23, 1953 — June 14, 2012

Mitchell Saxon Lowther Sr., 58 passed through the veil, Thursday, June 14, 2012 at his home in Ridgeland.He was born to the late Charles Eugene and Vivian Isabel Saxon Lowther on October 23, 1953. He chose to live in Jasper County his entire life.Mitchell was a builder and joined his father and brother in the business established by his father, C.E. Lowther and Sons. Prior to this Mitchell and his brother purchased the Lemon Island Marina. He enjoyed the opportunity of handling and distributing South Carolina seafood along the east coast. Mitchell was concerned with our community and organized the Jasper-Ridgeland Youth Baseball program where he served for sixteen years as president, coach and board member. He was a coach for Thomas Heyward Academy junior and varsity teams. He was a member of the American Legion Baseball organization; he served as co-chairman of the Jasper Chapter of the American Red Cross and as president and secretary of the Jasper County Taxpayers Association.Mitchell was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a faithful church member where he served as Bishop, counselor in the Georgia Savannah State Presidency. He is survived by his wife, Carmon Yvonne Butler Lowther formally of Hardeeville; five sons, Mitchell Saxon(Brook) Lowther Jr, Noah Saxon (Megan) Lowther, Adam Saxon (Tawny) Lowther, Aaron Saxon Lowther and Andrew Saxon Lowther; sisters, Vivian Genie Lowther (Gerald) Tillotson and Effie Sandra Lowther Turpin; brothers, Charles Eugene Lowther Jr. (Bube), Clayton Clark (Marie) Lowther, Edward LeGrand (Elizabeth) Lowther Sr. and Mark Allen (Susan) Lowther; nine grandchildren, Alex Mitchell, Will, Collin, Drew, Tatum, Anniston and triplets, Courtney, Westin and Dylan; two aunts, Mildred C. Saxon and Juanita L. Kimmerlin; three uncles, Charles Mitchell Lowther Sr, James Ballard Lowther and James Bruce Saxon. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Rita Elizabeth Lowther Rogers.
