Mitchell (Mitch) Phillip Whitman

Mitchell (Mitch) Whitman, 74, of Bluffton, SC passed away peacefully at home on June 20, 2024 with his beloved wife Amy and son Steven at his side.

Mitch was born in Adrian, Michigan on March 27, 1950.  Mitch enlisted in the Marine Corp and served in Vietnam.  He was a decorated combat Veteran, and carried the wounds of war with him for the remainder of his life.

Mitch was a lifelong fan of Michigan college football, Go Blue!  He was a talented carpenter as well as a skilled auto mechanic.

Mitch was preceded in death by his best friend and brother Mike and his first spouse Joy.

He was the beloved father of Steven (Dawn) and stepfather to Clayton (Shelbey) and grandfather to Francis.  He is also survived by his loving wife, Amy; Father and Mother-in-law William (Allison) Chapo, Sister-in-law Ellen Whitman, Sister Molly (Jim) Upell, Sister Judy Birchfield, as well as nephews and great nephews and nieces.

Visitation:  5:00-7:00 PM; Thursday; July 11, 2024 at Sauls Funeral Home (Bluffton, SC)

Committal & Inurnment:  10:00 AM; Friday; July 12, 2024 at Beaufort National Cemetery (Beaufort, SC)
