Nancy Mohr Mitchell Croft

Nancy Mohr Mitchell Croft peacefully passed away at home surrounded by family on Aug 25, 2015. Nancy was born in the coastal town of Harstad in 1927 as the youngest of four children. She immigrated to the United States, moving in with her beloved Uncle Alfred. Nancy married a fellow Norwegian, Ole Wangberg (later changed to Tom Mitchell), and they both became naturalized citizens. They travelled to various posts around the world for his job with US Agency for International Development. Eventually they settled in Falls Church, Virginia, where Nancy finished her Bachelor's degree, majoring in Spanish. Her husband retired from USAID and the family moved to Savannah, Georgia, where, sadly, Tom passed away in 1983 after 25 years of marriage. Nancy began the next phase of her life as an English and Reading instructor at Savannah Technical Institute. A member of Sigma Delta Pi, the national collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, Nancy was fluent in her native Norwegian, English, and Spanish, and competent in Danish, Swedish, Portuguese, German, and French. Pre-deceased by her husband of 20 years, George Thomas "Tom" Croft, of Bluffton, South Carolina. She is survived by daughters Patricia Hatcherson (Rob) of Ft. Worth, TX and Jessica Rockwood (Tim) of Kensington, MD and her grandchildren Daniel Hatcherson, Scott Hatcherson, Stacey Kreager and Jordan Rockwood and many nephews and nieces both in the US and Norway. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (https://www.lls.org/) or PruittHealth Hospice of Beaufort (http://www.pruitthealth.com/). A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC.
