Nancy Corinne Moody, 89, of Hilton Head Island, SC, wife of Jack W. Moody, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018 at her home. Nancy was born in New York City, NY on March 11, 1928 to Roger and Myra Gimbernat. Nancy graduated from Rahway, New Jersey High School where she was president of the Blue Tri Club, French Club, and elected to the National Honor Society. Upon graduation, she joined the U.S. Army Cadet Nurse Corps in training at Muhlenberg Hospital, Plainfield, NJ. After graduating with her Registered Nurse Certification, she embarked on a career working at hospitals in New Jersey, Fort Lauderdale, Duke University, and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. After marriage and raising a family, she did volunteer hospital duties in several hospitals including Hilton Head, SC. In 1949 she married Jack W. Moody the day after Christmas in the First Presbyterian Church, Rahway. She and Jack then moved to Chapel Hill while he finished his Undergraduate studies. Nancy is survived by her husband Jack; adult children, Douglas Moody Kennesaw, GA, Jill Moody Bluffton, SC, Linda Wilson, San Diego, CA, Jeffery Moody, Bluffton, SC; five grandchildren and two great granddaughters. Nancy was an expert sewer, quilter, and knitter. She made many cloth handbags, baby blankets, stuffed animals, and place mats, which she enjoyed giving to friends. Nancy loved boating, fishing, crabbing, and clamming when spending summers at the Jersey Shore, Beach Haven Long Beach Island. She was a long time member of the Spray Beach, NJ Yacht Club and locally, Moss Creek Yacht Club. She enjoyed several cross country camping trips, visiting many national parks and historic sites. More recently, she and Jack traveled to many parts of the world while taking over 25 cruises and land tours. A private Celebration of Life will be held. The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at St. Luke’s Missonary Hospice.
