Nancy H. Roe of Bluffton, SC died suddenly on April 23, 2013 at her home on the Maye River. Nancy is survived by her husband of 49 years William Roe, her four children Kristy Ernst, John Roe, Kellie Kenny, and Kathryn Munsterman, her six grandchildren, Kiley Ernst, Kyle Roe, Kamryn Roe, Maeve Kenny, Owen Kenny and Trevor Munsterman, her sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Ken Horton, her nephew Marshall Horton, nieces Andrea Horton and Kate Judson.
Nancy was born in Greenville, North Carolina, attended Duke University where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority and made her debut in Raleigh. After graduation Nancy moved to Atlanta where she was instrumental in the growth of the Georgia republican party and a member of the Shakerag Hunt Club. Once married, Bill and Nancy moved to Beaufort County and established their farm, Windy Knoll, to raise their family. Nancy's life revolved around family and horses, including polo, steeplechases, fox hunting. Nancy taught her three girls to ride by her own special method, and all three are active equestrians. Nancy also bred Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Polo horses and Labrador retrievers. Meanwhile Nancy was also involved in the local schools and politics on the national, state and local levels, and worked for Sea Pines Real Estate company for 30 years. Bill and Nancy and their children were planning for their 50th wedding anniversary this June.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11 am at the Church of The Cross, 110 Calhoun Street, Bluffton, SC. In lieu of flowers, please donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
