Nancy Marlene Washburn, 88 of Hilton Head Island, SC and formerly of Leesburg, FL passed away Tuesday, October 07, 2014 following a short illness.
Mrs. Washburn was born on November 2, 1925. In addition to her family, music was the love of her life. She majored in Music at Pennsylvania State University during the 1940s. Over the course of her lifetime, she played the violin and the organ and she led two different church bell choirs. She also sang in several of her church choirs. Classical music and religious music were her two favorites.
She was a Presbyterian and a leader in the churches to which she belonged. In addition to her music interests, she served as a church secretary and a volunteer within the church. She donated extensively to worthy causes that were supported by the church.
Hobbies and interests included ceramics, one stroke painting, clothes design and doing jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Russell Charles Washburn; sons, James Smith and Glenn Smith; granddaughter, Jennifer Drey; and her two great grandchildren, Lanning and Francis.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 3, 2014 at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina.
