Norma DiBarba passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022. Norma was born on March 16, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York. She raised her family in New Jersey and retired in South Carolina. While Norma had 82 beautiful years, for those who knew and loved Norma it wasn’t nearly long enough. She had a fiery spirit and a love for life that was unparalleled. Norma enjoyed being productive and that meant working. She worked until the age of 74 and while she went to work every day, admittedly she said it never felt like work.
While Norma was a perpetual decorator, in the home she shared with her husband, Ronald DiBarba, she had a “get up and go” attitude. If there was an adventure out there, you can be sure Norma was ready and able to participate. As recent as her late 70’s Norma was, climbing Mt. Vesuvius, flying in open cockpit airplanes, climbing bridges and zip-lining thru rain forests halfway around the world. Her love for life was not only something she lived everyday but something she captured with her eye for a great picture. Norma’s love for travel, exploration and nature were infectious. She loved all kinds of animals, but a koala, well that was a whole other story. When she finally got to hold a koala she said, ‘now that’s a highlight’. Norma was known as the trip planner for her family and friends, traveling both here and abroad.
Most importantly to Norma was her family. She had a deep and unwavering love for her family and of course the family dog, Jesse. As a wife to Ronnie of nearly 33 years, they built a beautiful life together filled with love and lots and lots of laughter. They traveled the globe together and balanced that with her love of family. As a Mother and a Grandmother she developed an unbreakable bond with her children and grandchildren. She was present and always there for everyone, actively participating in the everyday things in life as well as celebrating every holiday and all those extra special moments.
For the absolutely beautiful person she was and for so many lives she touched, she will live in our hearts and be forever missed. She is survived by her beloved husband, Ronald Di Barba, her children, grandchildren and extended family and friends.
