Norma Bernice (Hughes) Fogle

It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Norma Hughes Fogle on October 5, 2024 at Coastal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville, SC at the age of 86.

Norma was born and raised in Ridgeland, SC by her parents Hugh Hughes and Bernice Cooler Hughes. She was baby sister to two brothers, Hugh Edward “Buddy” Hughes and Arthur Roy Hughes.

She had a calm and gentle spirit and a warm smile for everyone. She made many friends while attending local churches and loved singing in the choir. She enjoyed fixing holiday dinners for her family and spending time with her beloved pets.

Norma lost a piece of her heart with the passing of her dear daughter, Renea Tobias, in April of 2014 and again in January of 2016 with the passing of the love of her life, her husband, Gene.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kathy Marlene Lucas and Kimberly Michelle Hatchell; son-in-law, Ronnie Lucas; grandchildren, Mike Tobias, Dena Lucas Davidson, Kristen Tobias Cawley, Josh Lucas, Sean Tobias, Kelli Lucas, and Matthew Hatchell; grandchildren-in-law, Holly Tobias, Katie Lucas, Scott Cawley, and Crystal Lyons; great-grandchildren, Kelsi Tobias, Owen Lucas, Marlie Davidson, Bailey Lucas, Joel Lucas and Gabrielle Cawley.

Norma had a special bond with her sister-in-law, Sylvia Ann Fogle, who she traveled with, sharing laughs and life’s heartaches alike. She remained close to her cousin, Betty Bunton Fisher, with whom she grew up. She was loved by all of nieces and nephews on both sides of her family.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Ridgeland Cemetery, with Sauls Funeral Home assisting the family with the arrangements.

Norma will be lovingly carried to her place of rest by pallbearers, Roy G. Hughes, Mike Tobias, Josh Lucas, Sean Tobias, Matthew Hatchell and Scott Cawley.

She will forever be remembered with love.
