Ora Melva Mast, 78, of Bluffton, SC went to be with the Lord and Savior Monday December 2, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Mast.
Melva Mast, the fifth of six children, born to the late Ora and Lorma Kauffman July 23, 1935 in Buffalo, NY. Melva spent the larger part of her life in Elkhart, IN where she and Larry Barrett raised their 6 beloved children. During her time in Elkhart she was a loyal member of Women's Aglow and volunteer at CAPS for 10 years. She later moved to Tulsa, OK where she attended Rhema Bible Training Center and graduated in 2001. During her time at Rhema Bible Church she was involved in many missionary works that included time at the Indian Reservation. Melva also spent 1 year ministering in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky. Above all of this her greatest accomplishments were serving the Lord and sharing the love of Jesus with everyone she met.
Many of you will know this Great Woman. She served many, as she stood at her post at Walmart for many years once again serving the needs of others & always with a tender smile & words of encouragement!
Melva was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Sisters Berylene Corbin, Charlotte Markey and grandson Joshua Stephen Banks.
She is survived by her brother Merle R. Kauffman, Goshen In.; sister Maxine (Charles) Secrest , Tulsa, OK and Sister Karen (Noah D) Melton, Manchester, TN.
She is also survived by her 6 children: Michael Allen Barrett of Bluffton, SC; Patricia Lee (Kevin) Collins of Bluffton, SC; Gayle Lynn Barrett of Stafford, VA; Tonia Lynette (Gary) Walker of Bristol, IN; Cynthia Lou Dempster of Bluffton, SC and Kimberly Lisa Garland of Hilton Head, SC.
She was a loving grandmother to 21 Grandchildren and 40 Great-Grandchildren. In her Child-like Heart there was never a time that she did not open her door say, "Come on Let's Play".
The memorial service will be held Thursday December 5th at Creative Church. Pastor Eric Clark to officiate. Service to be held at 2:00 pm
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Creative Church 290 New River Parkway Hardeeville, SC 29927 in her name. There will be an outreach held in her honor at a later date.
