Patricia P. York, a long time resident of Hilton Head and native of the Palmetto state, passed away peacefully at Heartland of West Ashley, Charleston, SC on Saturday, January 23, 2010.Known to family and friends as either Tricia or Patty Lou, she was born in Aiken, SC. She is the daughter of the late Bennie R. Permenter, a former Postmaster of Aiken and his wife, Bernice.Raised in Aiken, Tricia attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for two years prior to her transfer to UNC at Chapel Hill, where she graduated with a B.A. degree in Dramatic Arts. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority.While attending UNC, she met Tom York, whom she married in 1955 following their graduation. Tom, a Naval Officer assigned to a post near Scranton, PA. moved the family there. Tom and Tricia returned to Chapel Hill for his MBA and joined the private sector. Philadelphia was their home for ten years after which they moved to Connecticut; Weston for ten years then New Canaan where they lived for 20 years.The York family started vacationing on the Island in the late 1960
