Paul Eugene Darmer

Paul Eugene Darmer (Pete) of Ridgeland, South Carolina, 85 years old, passed away in his family’s arms on August 8th, 2026. Born on March 18th, 1941 to Paul Darmer and Hope Dieterle-Darmer, Pete married Carol on May 10th, 1980.

As a young man, Pete was a lifeguard and attained the status of Eagle Scout. He attended the University of Alabama, studying mechanical engineering. After his studies, Pete and three colleagues formed North American Container Corporation, where he designed and built machines to fabricate reinforced corrugated boxes. Upon retiring in 2002, he started PECAD Unique, a company offering construction and electrical work to developers and builders in the South Carolina low country.

As a child, Pete and his brother Gene were playful pranksters who enjoyed exploring the world with their inquisitive minds. His passion later in life was playing golf no matter the weather - sun, rain, or snow. He also excelled at chess, table tennis, and bowling. When he wasn’t busy helping others, Pete could be found in his shop making wooden toys. He also made a mean Western omelette, and his Bloody Marys were the envy of all mixologists.

Survived by his wife Carol, sons Joseph (Kazumasa) and Kevin (Elizabeth), grandsons Brendan (Ansley) and Simon, great-grandson Brooks Paul, fi ve sisters and two brothers. Pete was preceded in death by his parents and three of his siblings.

Visitation will be held Thursday at Saul’s from 5-7 p.m., with recitation of the Rosary at 6:30. There will also be a viewing one hour before the funeral Mass, which will be held on Friday, August 14th at noon at St. Anthony’s in Ridgeland. Pete will be buried at the Beaufort National Cemetery. A man of morals, principles, honesty, and unwavering love for his family, Pete remains forever in our hearts.
