Paul Trapier Horry Sr.

Paul Trapier Horry, Sr., 80, of Okatie, SC, passed away on March 11, 2017 in the Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Beaufort, SC. Paul was born in Grahamville, SC, on September 26, 1936, to the late Edward S. Horry Sr. and Lucile Fripp Horry. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served during the Cold War as a crew chief on the B-47 Stratojet Bomber. He retired from civil service at the Beaufort Naval Hospital as a Planner and Estimator and the Foreman of Public Works. Paul was a lifelong member of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Grahamville, where he was Chairman of the Pancake Supper, member of the Vestry, Sunday School Superintendent, and a lifelong Episcopalian. He was a Past Master, American Lodge #98, and also served as the Lodge Secretary and Chaplain. Paul enjoyed his tractors, gardening, and aviation. He loved everything on the Chechessee River. Most of all, he loved his family. Paul is survived by his wife, Ann Clements Horry, of Okatie, SC; his son, Paul T. Horry Jr. of Seabrook, SC; his daughter, Connie Horry Horton (Allen) of Yemassee, SC; his grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Horry, William Paul Horry and Sarah Jamison Horton; and his nephews, William (Michelle) and Eric (Stephanie) Horry of Grahamville, SC, who became a part of Paul and Ann’s family at an early age. Paul considered them his children, and their children (Brittney, Patience, Amber, Sarah, Sophia, Eric, Julie, and Claire), his grandchildren. Paul is also survived by numerous relatives – nephews, nieces, and cousins, all of whom were very special in his life. He was predeceased by his brothers, Edward S. Horry, Jr., Marion F. Horry, and William W. Horry. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Church of The Holy Trinity, Grahamville Community, Ridgeland, SC, with burial in the Grahamville Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 until the hour of the service at Church of The Holy Trinity. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Paul T. Horry Sr., may be sent to the Shriners Hospital in Greenville, SC, or the United Services Organization (USO).
