Paul Richard Tippett

Paul Richard Tippett, 84 of Bluffton, SC passed away on March 16, 2016 at Hilton Head Medical Center, Hilton Head Island, SC. Mr. Tippett originally settled in Baltimore with his first wife, Gloria Mae Kenley Tippett. Mr. Tippett was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on May 15, 1931 to the late Leonard George Tippett and Marion Rhines Tippett. Mr. Tippett was a graduate of Dundalk High School and an US Navy veteran. Mr. Tippett previously worked for Bendix Corporation then State Farm Insurance for 39 years. He was active in his High School graduating class and organized many class reunions. Mr. Tippett taught Sunday School at Perry Hall Methodist and was a member of Timonium Methodist Church in MD. Mr. Tippett moved to Sun City in 2000 where he became active in woodworking, clock making, cooking, golf, many clubs, theater and travel. Mr. Tippett was President of the Sun City Men’s Golf Association from 2005-2006. He was a member of the Church of the Palms and then joined St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. He is survived by his children, Patricia Tippett Shafer of MD, David Paul Tippett of CO, Janet Joyce Spruill of VA, Timothy Allen Tippett of VA and Daniel Darrin Tippett of MD; three stepsons, David Andrew Rice of MD, Douglas Matthew Rice of TN and Dennis Bernard Rice of TN; brother, Carl L. Tippett; fifteen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. He is also remembered by his long-time friend, Rose Dunne. He was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Mary Jane Tippett and brother, Calvin G. Tippett. Memorial services will be held at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium, MD at a later date.
