Paul J. Viens passed away on November 14 at the age of 98. Paul or "Frenchie" as he was known by his family and friends was a retired United States Air Force Officer and a veteran of both World War II and the Korean Wars. He served in the French underground during World War II; served as Aide deCamp to General Doolittle and chief volunteer at St. Andrews and St. Gregory since retiring from United States Air Force. He was a lifelong member of St. Andrews and St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
Frenchie was preceded in death by Marie Pinckney Viens, his wife of more than 50 years. He is survived by his sons Joe Viens (Jacque) of Bluffton, SC and Ted Viens (Sharon) of Orange Park, FL; grandchildren, JoeJoe Viens and Angela Viens of Bluffton, Elly Minick and Katie Mueller of Savannah, GA, Ted Viens Jr. (Lucinda) of Orange Park, FL and Jennifer Miller (Brett) of Orlando, FL and great grandchildren, Guy, Molly and Abby Minick, Bailey, Linleigh and Dylan Viens, Lindsey Olds, Teddy and Thomas Viens and Blake and Emma Miller.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 pm, Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton with burial in Pinckney Colony Cemetery, Bluffton. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:00 pm on Tuesday at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton.
