Paula Frances Daughton

April 8, 1944 — March 10, 2014

Paula Frances Daughton Paula died peacefully at home on Monday, 10 March 2014 with her devoted husband Jack and several of her family members by her side. She was born in Pawtucket, RI to Edward J Donahue and Elizabeth Connolley Donahue. She and her family moved to Anderson, SC, where she attended the early grades of elementary school. When she was approximately 10 years old, the family relocated to Providence, RI. She attended and graduated in 1962 from Notre Dame High School in Central Falls, RI. Following graduation, she worked at Hasbro Industries for one year, and then joined the US Air Force as a trainee and a data processing specialist where she met and married her first husband, J. Thomas Gunning. After serving their tours, they moved to Rochester, NY, where she raised a family and worked in the banking industry. In 1980, Paula married Jack Daughton. She attended several ABI banking courses and because of her effectiveness in work and her successful interactions with customers and fellow employees she was promoted to Assistant Vice President with HSBC. After several years, because of health, she was forced to take a disability separation from the bank, eventually becoming a winter resident of Fort Myers, FL and full time resident in 1998. She and her husband moved to Sun City Hilton Head in 2006. Paula became very talented in the areas of Calligraphy, Quilting, Sketching, Painting, and Computer-assisted Sewing, generally with very little instruction and with much patience and persistence. Every piece of work she did was of high caliber, and her gifts to family members and friends will be cherished. She delighted in her eleven grandchildren, physically meeting her youngest grandchild just before passing. Shortly after she moved to Sun City, her illnesses limited her ability to travel or participate in activities. She continued to stay involved in the world through internet access and Audio Books, and with friends and family through phone and internet connections. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her older sister, Mary Kaye Donahue. She is survived by her husband, Jack Daughton in Bluffton, SC, and by her two sisters: Elizabeth Weinstein (Charles) of Long Island, NY and Donna Siegmann of Rhinecliff, NY. She is also survived by her children, step-children and grandchildren: Elizabeth Brillian and Kelsey and Colin Brillian of Walworth, NY, John Gunning (Mandy) and Mardi, Nora, and Mollie Gunning of Oak Lawn, IL, Caroline (Carl) Horsford and Amelia and Gabriel Horsford of Walworth, NY.
