Peggy Joiner Spaulding

Peggy Joiner Spaulding, age 73, of Hardeeville, SC and formerly of North Augusta, SC went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 4, 2018.

Mrs. Spaulding was born on January 5, 1945 in Augusta, GA, the daughter of the late William W. and Norma S. Joiner. She was a graduate of Butler High School and attended Business School in Augusta. Peggy grew up in Augusta and while working at the Fort Gordon post office, met her future husband Mike. Peggy and Mike were blessed with three sons, and she enjoyed being a wife and mother, and taking care of her family. For several years, she could be seen driving the yellow Curtis Baptist School van, as well as her tenure as a successful real estate broker for Sherman & Hemstreet Realty Company. She enjoyed bowling, and after being introduced to ice hockey by her husband, became a huge fan of the Augusta Lynx Hockey Team. After Mike’s sudden death, her love of hockey diminished, but with encouragement of her friends, she enjoyed attending Augusta Green Jacket baseball games. In addition to gardening in her yard, she always made sure that all of her “critters” were fed, especially deer and squirrels. She was especially fond of traveling, playing Candy Crush, watching C-Span and listening to Rush Limbaugh. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her beloved cat. She was a member of Maye River Baptist Church, Bluffton, SC and Sweetwater Baptist Church, North Augusta, SC.

Mrs. Spaulding was preceded in death by her husband, E.G. “Mike” Spaulding, III. She is survived by her sister, Gloria J. Fossett of Wilmington, NC; children, Richard (Danielle) L. Spaulding of North Augusta, SC, E. Gerry (Judy) Spaulding, IV of Hardeeville, SC, and Brian K. Spaulding of North Augusta, SC; grandchildren, Thomas (Elana) Roach of Pendleton, SC, Michael (Heather) Spaulding of Florence, SC, Kristine (Alexander) Marshall of Beaufort, SC, Makinzie (Josh) Corley of Edgefield, SC, Morgan Spaulding, Payton Spaulding, and Ashlynn Spaulding, all of North Augusta, SC; great grandchildren, Landon Feagin, Gabrielle Roach, Gracie Corley, and Julia Roach; beloved pet, Sue the cat; and special friend, Virginia Acosta.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910.

The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Sweetwater Baptist Church, 198 Sweetwater Road, North Augusta, SC with Dr. Paul Noe officiating. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow the service at Pineview Memorial Gardens, North Augusta, SC. The funeral service and burial will be under the direction of Posey Funeral Directors of North Augusta (803.278.1181).

Pallbearers will be Josh Corley, John Finley, Marvin Gardner, Alexander Marshall, Thomas Roach, and Michael Spaulding.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
