Peter J. Danules (84) of Sun City in Bluffton, South Carolina was born on September 26, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan and passed away in his sleep on May 25, 2011. Peter was a man of few words who lived his life for his family. He will be remembered most for the great love he had for his wife of 49 years, Marie. Peter grew up in Detroit, Michigan and was a good student and athlete throughout his school years. After graduating from High School he joined the Navy and served his country during World War II on a mine-sweeper ship traveling to Japan and was able to view the devastation of the atomic bombs first hand. After the war he came home and attended Lawrence Institute of Technology in Detroit where he was proud of saying he met John DeLorean of GM. After attending Lawrence Tech he went to work for small engineering companies around the Detroit, Michigan area where he worked as a draftsman and then a mechanical engineer. One of his accomplishments was working on the transfer machine design, while at Excello Corporation for the waxed paper milk carton that still is in use today but it is now mainly used as an orange juice carton. Peter was proud of being father of three children: Joseph P. Danules of Alpharetta, Georgia; Cheryl Pengelly of Howell, Michigan and John A. Danules of Fenton, Michigan. He taught his children many valuable life lessons and will be remembered by them as a dedicated and loving father. After many wonderful years of living on lakes in the Waterford, Michigan area for his family's enjoyment while he endured long commutes to work, Peter and Marie moved to Miami, Florida where he went to work for the Coulter Corporation. He worked as a mechanical engineer until he retired from Coulter at 70 years young. During his years in Miami he became a very good tennis player. Upon retiring Peter and Marie moved to Sun City in Bluffton, South Carolina near Hilton Head Island. It was here in Sun City that Peter and Marie really started to enjoy the fruits of their labor. They met many friends but none as dear to them as Wally and Lois Willig. After Marie passed away with cancer in 1999 Peter, Wally and Lois became even closer if such a thing is possible. Peter and Wally met at least weekly for "boys lunch out" at a variety of local restaurants. All during his life, Peter loved cars... fast cars and big V-8 engines. His last car was a 2010 400 horse power Camaro! He leaves behind his three children: Joe, Cheryl and John; his grandchildren: Natalie, Sean, Dan, Amber, Jimmy and Leslie and his great grandchildren: Baylee, Ellie, Emma, Caleb and Millie. Peter was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. A private family service will be held at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church on June 3rd where he will join Marie in their final earthly resting place. In lieu of flowers Peter's children and Wally & Lois ask that donations be sent in Peter's name to St. Lukes Memorial Walkway, St. Lukes United Methodist Church, PO Box 2779, Bluffton, SC. 29910. So it is with sadness that we his family and friends say good-bye to Peter but it is also with joy as we know he will be united again in Heaven with his Beloved wife Marie ......... God Bless you Peter.
