Petrina “Pat” Bunting

Petrina “Pat” Bunting, age 89, of Hilton Head Island, SC and formerly of Bridgeport, CT died Sunday, January 3, 2016, with her children at her side. Mrs. Bunting was born on October 20, 1926 in Bridgeport, CT, the daughter of the late Joseph Mavaro and Josephine Palmieri Mavaro. Pat worked as a secretary at the United Nations for a short time, but served most of her career as a Coder in the medical records department of Bridgeport Hospital. Her most important job was that of a caregiver to her family, being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Bunting was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, Lee Bunting. She is survived by her daughter, Marie McClune of Hilton Head, SC; son, Richard Bunting of Westport, CT; sisters, Connie Rooney of Milford, CT, Frances Strack of Nashua, NH, and Mary Mavaro of Stratford,CT; her grandsons, Major Sean McClune, USAF of Spokane, WA, Kyle McClune of Portland, OR; and great-grandchildren Avery, Madeline and Maxwell McClune. A Memorial Service will be held in Connecticut at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research or your local humane society.
