Peter Splawnyk passed away peacefully in his home on December 14, 2024 at the age of 88.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Connie, his two daughters, Adriana Winters and Chrissy Short, son, Peter Splawnyk, sons-in-law Doug Winters and Dennis Short, daughter-in-law Tracy Splawnyk, grandchildren Bodhi Short and Abbigail Winters, sister Sandy DiGirolamo, brothers-in-law Peter Binazeski, Anthony Friscia, Carmine Maratta, and sister-in-law Carol Friscia
He was born in Ukraine on April 4, 1936, to Walter and Maria Splawnyk. He survived World War II as a young boy and immigrated to the United States with his family, settling in Newark, NJ. Peter served in the US Army from 1958-1967 attending Officers Candidate School during that time. He went on to have a successful career spanning over 35 years as an electrical engineer with American Electric Power, retiring as an executive at the company in 2000.
While working at American Electric Power he met Concetta Friscia, who went on to become his wife in 1967. They had 3 children and eventually moved to Upper Arlington, OH, where they raised their family and resided until they retired to Bluffton, SC. Peter and Connie spent many wonderful years traveling and cruising the world with family and friends.
His favorite past times once they retired were walking on the beaches at Hilton Head, spending time gardening, and visiting their children. As a devout Catholic, Peter spent many hours attending worship services at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation in his name.
