Philip Maurice Fontanetta

Philip Maurice Fontanetta, age 87, of Bluffton, SC and formerly of Callawassie Island, SC and Plainview, NY passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at Pruitthealth in Estill, SC. Mr. Fontanetta was born on August 14, 1929 in Patchogue, Long Island, NY, the son of the late James Fontanetta and Bertha Rumore Fontanetta. He was a U.S. Army veteran before establishing his career as a hair stylist and attending Beauty School in Manhattan, NY. Philip worked for over 35 years as a hairdresser, owning Maurice’s Hair Stylists at Franklin Square, Long Island, NY. He was an avid golfer and bowler, enjoyed playing the piano and harmonica as well as singing. He played football in high school, continuing to play semi-pro football later in life and always strived to live an athletic lifestyle. Philip was raised Catholic and attended St. Andrews Catholic Church. With love Philip leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Patricia Fontanetta and his beautiful daughters, Lisa Karoon (Kayvan) of Ridgewood, NJ and Regina Jimenez (Vito) of Melbourne, FL as well as his sister, Lillian Kennedy of New York City, NY. Forever missed will be his grandchildren Briana, Derek, Marissa, and Darius as well as his great-grandchildren, Paisley, Luke, Everleigh, and Dylan. Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton will be assisting the family with a private funeral service.
