Philip (Phil) Worley

Philip (Phil) Worley of Sun City Hilton Head passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at his residence at the age of 74. Phil was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1939, and grew up in the Cleveland, Ohio suburb of Bay Village. He graduated with a BFA degree in art from Miami University, where he was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. While at Miami, Phil met his future wife, Susan Millican, and they were married in 1961. After beginning his career as a commercial artist, Phil attended the Ohio State University where he studied business. He chose to pursue interests in marketing and new business development. Phil held a number of managerial and executive positions in the fields of consumer packaged goods, pharmaceuticals and finance. Some of the products and businesses Phil helped introduce included Similac infant products, NutraSweet and Equal sweeteners, Household Bank and Hamilton Investments. After retiring at Sun City Hilton Head, Phil was instrumental in starting the Sun City Pickleball Club, served as president of the Buckeye Group and was a member of the bicycle, theater, travel and computer clubs. Phil is survived by his son Robert Worley, daughter Andrea Knopp, partner Edie Hatfield, five grandchildren, Steven, Erich, Sarah, Laura and Parker, and brother Michael Worley. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Sauls Funeral Home at 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, South Carolina 29910 with a reception following at Riverbend Clubhouse in Sun City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any charity of choice. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Sauls Funeral Home at 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, South Carolina 29910 with a reception following at Riverbend Clubhouse in Sun City.
