Phyllis Yingling

Phyllis Yingling, a long-time resident of Bluffton, SC entered into eternal life Sunday, April 14, 2024 at home surrounded by family. She was 75.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bruce Yingling. She is survived by her daughter, Brandy Lyn Yingling and partner Stacey Ahern, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 nephews, 3 nieces, 3 brothers-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law.  She was also predeceased by 1 brother and 1 sister.

Phyllis was born in Newark, NJ and raised in Lebanon Township, NJ.  She successfully owned and operated Apple A Day, a medical billing company for 35 years.   After selling the business, Phyllis worked with her daughter to open a fabric shop, The Blue Heron Stitchery in Bluffton.  It was one of Phyllis’ joys to work with Brandy to grow the business.

Phyllis was active in her church, The Church of the Cross and served as a Stephen Minister and a Stephen Minister Leader for many years.  Listening and guiding others with wisdom and support were strong traits in her work.  Her participation in a small women’s prayer group for over 18 years was a joy to her and led to meaningful friendships.  She occasionally played the flute at church services.  Phyllis also supported Bluffton Jasper Volunteers in Medicine (BJVIM) with time and talent.

She enjoyed quilting projects with her daughter and was known for her beautiful prayer quilts given to those in need.  Other hobbies included sewing, baking, gardening, raising orchids and bird watching. She was an avid reader and long- time member of a book club.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 11:00 am at The Church of the Cross, 110 Calhoun Street, Bluffton, SC  29910.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Young Life Foundation, PO Box 520, Colorado Springs, CO 80901-0520, Reference - Designation Young Lives S.C. #107, an organization she supported.
