Ralph V. Lund, 74 of Bluffton, S.C. and Batavia, formerly of Clarence and Alexander/Attica, died Monday (Feb. 10, 2014) in Bluffton, S.C.
Born in Batavia, he was the son of the late Harry V. and the late Mary L (Larmy) Lund. Mr. Lund married Annette R. Roth on July 4, 1959.
He graduated from Elba Central School in 1956 and SUNY Alfred Agricultural & Technical College in 1958.
Mr. Lund worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company from 1960 to 1991 as a sales representative, insurance consultant, sales manager, assistant manager, branch manager and financial planner in Buffalo, Clarence and Batavia.
He was a LUTC graduate in Life Insurance in 1963 and Health Insurance in 1965. Received CLU certification in life insurance in 1976 and a CHFC as a financial planner in 1988.
Ralph's activities included - Past President of the Batavia Life Underwriters, and an instructor for LUTC. He was a member of the Clarence Jaycees, Past President of Akron-Clarence Kiwanis Club, a member of the Clarence Lions Club and a past Master of the Akron Masonic Lodge. He is a Charter Club Past President of the Sun City Boat & RV Club in Sun City, Hilton Head, S.C. He also worked as a volunteer in the safety & service club in Sun City. He received the Board of Director's Award in Sun City for his work in the community in creating the Boat & RV parking area there. He was also the South Carolina legislative representative for the Family Motor Coach Association for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Annette R (Roth) Lund; daughters, Wendy (David) Ehrke of Amherst, Wanda Lund (John Hogan) of Catharpin, Va., Sheryl (James) Dvorak of Lancaster and Foreign Exchange daughter, Mona Eidsvold of Norway; grandchildren, Pamela, David Jr. and Paul Ehrke and Ashley and Megan Dvorak; Foreign Exchange granddaughter, Ingrid Eidsvold; brother of Franklin (Joyce) Lund; brother-in-law of Louanne Mitchell and nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Lakehouse at Sun City-Hilton Head, SC.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.
