Ralph Henry Lynes Sr.

Ralph Henry Lynes, Sr. - Ridgeland - Ralph Lynes 88, of Hilton Head Island, passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, December 24, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Trudie and daughter, Trudie Louise Vanagel, and 2 of his brothers and 1 sister. He was a Veteran, a founding member of the First Baptist Church of Hilton Head, past president of HHI Homebuilders Association, member of HHI Rotary Club, past Master of Unanimity Lodge #418 and other civic organizations. After his retirement from home building on Hilton Head, he built the building for the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic on Hilton Head and the Habitat for Humanity project at Brendon Woods in Bluffton. His passion for the last few years was building wooden cars to be distributed to needy children (over 200 last year). He is survived by sons Henry (Marlene) of Claxton, Ga., and Michael (Debi) of Hilton Head Island, sister, Lena Cooler of Ridgeland, grandchildren Nikki (Bill) Davis, Heather (Jon) Best, Andy (Jane) Pitts, Morgan Lynes, Kiki (Gregor)Patsch, Brandon (Cat) Runyan, Mollie (Brian) Kinard, and several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services: 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2013 at Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton, S.C. Private burial at the National Cemetery in Beaufort, S.C. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the American Cancer Society.Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, December 30, 2013 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton. Burial will be private.
