Ramona Rife Desimone

Ramona Rife DeSimone, age 90, of Bluffton, SC, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Ramona was born in Jenkins, Kentucky to Marvin Rife and Mae Caudill Rife on June 5th, 1934.  She was one of six children.  She was a graduate of Jenkins Independent High School, Jenkins, Ky.

In 1951, Ramona married Joseph (Joe) DeSimone and went on to raise five children.  Ramona and Joe were happily married for 60 years.  Ramona moved from her hometown, McRoberts, Kentucky, to South Carolina in 2013 to be near family.

Ramona’s greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She loved the outdoors and working in her flower beds.  She was a great storyteller.  She liked to paint, read, sew, quilt, and cook.  She was active in her church, Holy Angels Catholic Church, in McRoberts, Ky.

Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph DeSimone, her son, Michael Raymond DeSimone and her granddaughter, Candace Brooke Taylor.  She is survived by her children, Gregory DeSimone (Lula Moore), daughter Teresa DeSimone, Geoffery DeSimone (Cecilia), and Steven DeSimone (Tracy).  Grandchildren - Austin (Tracy), Adam (Angela), Alexander, Kimberly (Rick), Justin (Sarah Stanley), Derrick (Katie), Sophia (George), Stevie, Sydney, Carly, Leslie (Ryan).   Great Grandchildren – Ava, Haley, Addison, Annalise, Aidan, Michael, Jonathan, Harrison, Preston, Luke, Stella, Joseph Cole, Violet, Boone, and Henry.

Ramona will be laid to rest at Laurel Grove Cemetery, in Norton, Virginia.
