Raymond Edward Dinkle, 86 , passed away peacefully at his Bluffton, South Carolina home following a quick battle with cancer on September 15, 2024 surrounded by close family, according to his two sons.

Ray was born in Naugatuck, Connecticut on July 13, 1938 to Raymond and Mary Dinkle. He had a quick humor and a great smile. Ray attended the University of Connecticut where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He met his beloved wife of 60 years, Carla on a blind date on the Jersey Shore.

Ray was excellent with numbers and started his career as a CPA with Arthur Anderson in Boston. In the early 1970s, they relocated to South Florida, where Ray became the Controller for Southern Sanitation, which later became Waste Management, Inc. Ray moved up in the company and was responsible for developing and managing Waste Management’s offices throughout the Southeast during the 1970s-1990s, and even a stint with his family in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

When Ray retired in 1992, he and Carla settled into their home in Bluffton, SC in the “Low Country”. He spent time with his favorite hobbies which included fishing, golf, Low Country boils, traveling around the world, auto rallies in his Vintage Austin Healy watching the Atlanta Braves, and going to “the dump”.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carla, of Bluffton, South Carolina, his brother, Rick, of Denver, Colorado, two sons, Matthew, of Lawrenceville, GA, and Jeff and his wife ,Katrina, of Atlanta, Georgia and his granddaughters, Juliana and Chloe, of Dallas, Texas and Shannon, of Athens GA.
