Raymond Joseph Landry Obituary
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father Raymond J. Landry at the age of 92 on December 10th. He passed away at Hilton Head Medical Center, South Carolina with wife Geraldine and sons Paul, Michael and Thomas by his side.
Raymond was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick on January 15th, 1933. He was very proud of his Acadian heritage of the Canadian Maritime Provinces. After business school, he moved to the United States while working for the Delaware and Hudson Railroad. He faithfully fulfilled his military obligation as a Soldier in the New Hampshire National Guard during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Raymond met his adoring wife Geraldine in Manchester, New Hampshire during a ski outing. The loving pair began their journey together marrying in Manchester on June 1st, 1963, and then started their family in Baltimore, Maryland. From there, the family raised their wonderful children in Spring, Texas, a suburb of Houston.
Raymond was fully immersed in his Catholic community no matter where he lived. He was a lay reader, Eucharist minister, and a prison outreach minister in South Carolina. He was a fourth-degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Raymond kept very active throughout his life playing tennis, golf and bridge in addition to his northern clime activities of skiing and skating.
Our father is survived by his wife of 63 wonderful years Geraldine, and three sons Paul, Michael and Thomas Landry. He is the grandfather of Jacob, Ryan Walker, and Rachel Landry of Virginia. He is also the grandfather of Texans Tyler, Wyatt, and the late, Garrett Landry. He was the brother to the late Lola Torunski and late brother-in-law Henry, the late Elva Boulay and the late brother-in-law John, the late Aline Mackariak and the late brother-in-law Fred, and the late Normand Landry and sister-in-law Iris Cole. His sole surviving sibling is Cleo Landry who was married to Raymond’s late sister-in-law Francine. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A full funeral mass will be on Thursday, December 18th 2025 at 10:30 AM at Saint Gregory The Great, 31 Saint Gregory Drive, Bluffton, South Carolina.
