Raymond Joseph Scarpa, 77, of Bluffton, SC passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2010 in the Coastal Carolina Medical Center, Hardeeville, SC.He was born in Elizabeth, NJ on November 8, 1932. He was the son of the late Garry and Sadie Pullman Scarpa.He was an Electrical Engineer. He was a United States Army veteran. He was a member of Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church. He was a member of the alumni of Holy Name Drum and Bugle Corps. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer.He is survived by his wife, Joan Scarpa of Bluffton, SC; one son, Raymond J. (Dorothy) Scarpa, Jr. of Flemington, NJ; one daughter, Kathleen (Thomas) DiBernard of Mooresville, NC; one brother, Garry Scarpa of Voorhees, NJ; grandchildren, Raymond Scarpa III, Nicholas Scarpa, Christina Scarpa, Thomas DiBernard, Joseph DiBernard and Jonathan DiBernard. He was predeceased by one son, Joseph J. Scarpa and one sister, Dorothy Kwasnik.The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road at 11:00 am, Friday, August 13, 2010. The family will receive friends at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton from 2 til 4 pm on Thursday, August 12, 2010.
