Raymond Thomas Ward

September 4, 1942 — June 11, 2025

With profound sadness, we announce Raymond Thomas Ward, went to be with the Lord on June 11, 2025, at the age of 82. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Ray’s presence, witty sense of humor, and kind heart will be deeply missed and his memory forever cherished.

Born on September 4, 1942, to Ednora and Ralph Neel Ward Sr., Raymond grew up in Little Rock Arkansas with siblings Missy Myers and the late Ralph Ward Jr.

Ray is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn Ward, with whom he shared 55 treasured years. He leaves behind his loving children: daughters Dana (Joe) Combs, and Ali (Bob) Van Dillen, and son Dan (Wendy) Ward. He was preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Lori Ward (Doug), whose memory remained ever present in his heart. Ray’s legacy and joy will also live on with his 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Ray graduated from Hall High School and served his country in the Army in the early 60’s and attended the University of Arkansas. He spent his career working in the financial services industry working for a variety of corporations and eventually built and operated an information technology company of his own.

An eternal optimist with a joke at the ready, Ray left a positive impact on everyone he met. His generous spirit, steady guidance, and gentle wisdom were often served-up for breakfast at the local Waffle House. Ray was an avid reader who loved history, golf, college football, and the warm sunshine on his face. His legacy lives on through the family he nurtured, the friendships he fostered, and the lives he touched.

Years ago, Ray shared that his ideal funeral would involve his friends and family racking up “a big bar bill” from reminiscing and storytelling over cocktails. A private memorial service will be held to honor his memory, and we invite those who knew Ray to remember him by sharing how he made an impact on their life. Storytime will occur after the service, over a drink or two of course!
