Reavis Devere Gibb, age seventy-two, resident of Bluffton, SC passed away peacefully on October 6, 2012 at his home in Sun City.Reavis, the son of Claude and Lyal Gibb was born October 20, 1939 in St Paul, Nebraska. As a child he lived in David City, Nebraska and graduated from David City High School. He moved to California where he graduated from the University of San Francisco and Empire College of Law in Santa Rosa, CA. He also served as a member of the Air Force. Reavis enjoyed a long career in the cable industry starting in 1967 with Viacom International where he spent a total of 10 years. While working for Viacom, a handful of executives were assigned to start-up a pay television channel called Showtime, Reavis was part of this team. He spent three years with Cablecom General in Denver and Las Vegas before returning to California and Tribune Cable Communication of California in Lakewood, CA. In 1986 he moved to Topeka, KS as Vice-President of Douglas Cable Communications. After 10 years in Topeka, he moved to Richmond, Kentucky where he retired as General Manager of Cable Operations for Frontiervision. After retirement, Reavis started a Real Estate Development business before moving to Sun City. His wife, Dianne Gibb of Sun City, survives him. Surviving children are son Clifton Gibb and wife Ruth of Richmond, KY; son Travis Gibb of Richmond, KY; daughter Jennifer Gibb of Long Beach, CA and daughter Gwendolyn Gibb Stavros of Coto De Caza, CA.In addition, Reavis was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren. Abigail Gibb, Clayton Gibb and Vasilli Stavros.There will be a Celebration of Life for Reavis on Sunday, November 4th from 6-8pm in the Riverbend Lodge at Sun City.Memorial contributions may be made to Island Hospice.
