Redith "Rita" Ann Propst

Redith (Rita) Ann Blevins Propst, age 71 of Bluffton, SC lost her battle with cancer on February 12, 2023.  She grew up in Logan, WV where she graduated from Logan high school in 1969 before moving to Huntington, WV where she attended Marshall University and became a lifelong fan of the Thundering Herd.

Devoted Christian wife to husband Mike and children Amy and Michael Brent.  Mike and Rita met at age 15, married at 19.  A loving marriage for over 51 years.  Rita is survived by her husband Michael Propst, children Amy Propst Smoak and Michael Brent Propst (Brooke), grandchildren, Preston, Sara Gracyn, and Michael James (MJ), Mother-in-Law Louise Propst, loving sister Brenda (Gary, Shawn, Reece) Hughes, brothers Jack and Bud (Sylvie) Blevins, brothers in law Tommy Briguglio and Steve (Shelia) Propst, Sister in Law Lynn Propst Craig, her life-long best friend Sandy Campbell, and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Sarah Blevins, Father-in-Law Noah Propst, sister Glenna Briguglio, and grandson Noah Michael Propst.

To know Rita was to love her spirit, kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness and how funny she was without even meaning to be.  Oh, how her family and friends will miss her laughter.  She always made you feel special, when really, she was the special one.

Funeral services will be held at Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton, SC on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm until the hour of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Rita’s memory.
