Reuel Douglas Bransford, devoted son, husband, and father departed this life on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. Surviving him and by his side, his beloved wife of 46 years, Lynda while near in heart his sons, Christopher & Erik. Born March 23, 1940 in Shreveport, LA to Nolan Bertran Bransford and Opal Avangeline Bryant Bransford, he was the youngest of 5 children. After graduating Centenary College in LA, Douglas served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963. Thereafter, he then began a career as an airline pilot and director of DC 9 Training Department, retiring in 2000 from Continental Airlines. In 1970 he married Lynda Lou Williams and together they parented two sons; Christopher Bransford, born 1975 now residing in Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada) with wife Angela and step children, Paige & Hunter AND Erik Bransford, born 1978 now residing in Mt. Vernon, WA with his daughter Lilian Bransford. Douglas adored his grandchildren and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of Christopher’s first child, due July 2016. While preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Francine, Beverly & Patricia and beloved brother, Nolan B. Bransford, he is survived by sister & brother in laws, Lillian Earlene Storer, Beaufort, SC & John Williams Jr., Xenia, OH and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Memorial Services will be April 2, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Carteret Street United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of Carolina Hospice.
