Rhonda “Ronni” Rowe Duewel, 79, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on January 28, 1946, in Wilmington, Delaware, Ronni was the daughter of J. Max Rowe, an electrical engineer, and Missouri “Sue” Rowe, a devoted homemaker.
Ronni is survived by her three loved children and one granddaughter: Steve, husband of Susan and father of Savannah, of Charlotte, North Carolina; Drew of Park City, Utah; and Missy of Bluffton, South Carolina. Ronni is also survived by her dearest lifelong friend, Sherry Jaffe of Bluffton, South Carolina—her “crib mate” from birth and dearest friend throughout life.
Ronni lived an extraordinary and accomplished life. A proud graduate of the University of Kentucky, she broke barriers as the first female television producer and director in the state of North Carolina. Later, she her entrepreneurial drive led her to build a thriving needlepoint business from the ground up in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Travel was one of Ronni’s great passions. She cherished exploring the world, fulfilling lifelong dreams to visit Italy and Greece at age 76. Hilton Head Island was especially close to her heart, offering many years of joyful family vacations. In 2000, she realized her dream of living nearby, settling in Bluffton. There, she discovered both happiness and purpose in her work with Marriott Vacation Club, where she formed treasured friendships that lasted throughout her life.
Ronni will be remembered for her warmth, determination, creativity, and kind spirit—a bright and loving presence who enriched every life she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Bluffton in late January.
