Richard H. "Dick" Bickford

Richard H. “Dick” Bickford, age 75, passed into God's hands peacefully on May 4, 2017. He is the beloved husband of Jan Bickford, of Abbey Glen, Hardeeville, SC.

Dick was born on April 16, 1942 in Hartford, CT, the son of Harold and Louise Bickford. He lived much of his life in Conn., having moved to his home in Hilton Head Island, SC in 1997. He earned a double Masters Degree in accounting and organizational management from Central Conn. State University and the University of Hartford. He worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for many years, as well as owned several businesses. He was the comptroller at Robinson & Grant accounting firm in Hilton Head Island, from which he retired in 2012. Dick was a kind and loving husband and father. He enjoyed playing golf when able to, traveling and dining in new restaurants. He was an avid UCONN basketball fan, as well as many other sports.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Jan, and his precious pup, Lexie, as well as his beloved daughter, Kristine Bickford of South Windsor, CT, Sean Fitzgerald, and his dear granddaughters Julia and Gianna, and their grandmother, Gretchen Bickford. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara Bickford Barrett and her daughter, Dawn Barrett, and stepson, Robb Guilbault. He also leaves his loving sister Carolyn Calhoun, and husband Edward, of Granby, CT, and children Allison and David, a special cousin/brother Tom Mooney, Jr., of South Windsor, CT, and his wife, Bonnie. He also leaves his step-son Matt Guilbault of Granby, CT., and sister-in-law Nancy Wilson, and husband, Jim, and their children, Scott and Randy, as well as brother-in-law, Jed Baricak, and wife, Diane, of Ellington, CT, step-daughter Shona Guilbault, of Vernon, CT, and granddaughter, Shannon, and several other grandchildren, as well as many devoted and loving friends both in CT and in the Hilton Head Island area. Dick was a devoted member of Unity Church, as well as its Treasurer and officer of the Board of Directors.

A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service for Richard H. “Dick” Bickford will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Unity Church Sequins Ballroom, 1300 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC 29910.
