Richard Spragg Myers, 77, of Sun City Hilton Head, Bluffton, SC and formerly of Arlington Heights, IL died Friday, February 8, 2008 at the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center.Dick is survived by his wife, Emily Stanley Myers of 48 years, his children, Richard of Miami, FL and Bryan (Rita) of West Des Moines, IA; two grandchildren (Dean and Hanna); two step grandchildren, (Maline and Shaelin); a brother, Fred (Harriet) of Augusta, GA; brother in law, William C. (Frances) Stanley of Ehrhardt, SC and sisters in law, Mary Jon Goodwin of Aiken, SC and Helen Copeland of Ehrhardt, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ethel Myers of Augusta, GA; sister in law, Carleen Rodgers, brothers in law, Clarence Rodgers and Francis Wilson Stanley.Dick graduated from Lenox Preparatory School, the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia. He was Director of Medical Illustration at Vanderbilt University Medical School in Nashville, TN where he met and married his wife and where his sons were born. The family moved to Arlington Heights, IL where they lived for 37 years. Dick worked for the American Medical Association as Director for Scientific Exhibits and as the Assistant Executive Director of the American College of Occupational Medicine.In retirement, Dick and Emily moved to Sun City Hilton Head, where he enjoyed many activities, but his favorite was woodworking. He was an accomplished artist, an avid outdoorsman, a gardener, and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity as well as other activities in the community. Dick was an optimist.He was active in the ministries of Christ Church (Anglican), Savannah as a lector, usher, altar guild member and on the First Callers Committee.Visitation will be held from 4 til 6 pm, Monday, February 11, 2008 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC.Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Christ Church (Anglican), 28 Bull Street, Savannah, GA.
